The Advent Vega Slate is a low price point entry into the Tablet Computer market. Vega Slate runs on the Android platform. Although the Android system was built for phone use, the Advent Vega has tailored the operating system of this new device to suit use as a tablet PC.
Advent Apps
The current Android apps are not supported by the Advent Vega but they do expect to have a fully functioning app store in the near future. Right now there are close to 5000 apps available for download and purchase at the third-party, Archos AppsLib site. That is far less than the 80,000 plus available at the Android app store but maybe enough to appeal to some users at the onset.
Not being compatible with the Android market could sway some away from purchasing the Advent Vega, others might feel that the specs and price point more than meet their needs and are willing to wait for more apps.
One of the first advantages the Advent Vega has over the iPad is the ability to use the Flash platform. This has always been a big issue for many iPad users. By incorporating Adobe based technology into the functionally of the Vega Slate developers will be able to write software for the tablet using the Adobe Air platform.
